SON-RISE CHURCH is a Pentecostal Church. Pentecostals believe and exercise the Holy Spirit’s gifts and power today as written in Acts 2:4, in the Bible.

SALVATION

When a person believes Jesus Christ is the Son of God, accepts Him as his/her Saviour, repents and turns away from his/her previous conduct, he/she will saved (born-again).  (Rom 10:9, 2 Cor 5:17, John5:24)

SAVIOUR

Jesus Christ is the Son of God, born of the Holy Spirit and virgin Mary. He was fully man and fully God. He lived on earth without sin, although tempted in every way like us. He took the penalty for our sins [past, present and future] and was crucified on the cross so that we can be reconciled to God. Jesus Christ is the only way through whom we can receive forgiveness, be saved and have a personal relationship with God. (John 3:16, 1John 4:9-10, John 14:6, 1 Cor 1:18)

HOLY SPIRIT

The Holy Spirit is the Third Person of the Holy Trinity. He reveals God. He never controls us, we have a free will and a choice whether to obey what He is requesting us to do or not. We believe that once we have accepted Jesus as our Saviour, He gives us the Holy Spirit to live in us to help us and to reveal to us the Truth. (John 14:16-17, John 14:26, John 15:26). The Holy Spirit is our Counsellor (John 14:16, John 15:26,) Who will teach us (John 14:26) and will testify about Christ (John 15:26)

TRINITY We believe that God exists as three Persons, as God the Father, God the Son Jesus Christ and God the Holy Spirit. (Matt 3:16, Luke 3:21-22, 2 Pet 1:16-18)

HOLY BIBLE

The Holy Spirit inspired men to write the Bible. 2 Tim 3:16 All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for showing people what is wrong in their lives, for correcting faults, and for teaching how to live right.(NCV) The Bible reveals the truth about God, Jesus Christ and mankind. When the Word from the Bible (Scripture) is used in union with the Holy Spirit and His gifts, it has the power discern hidden motives and attitudes, and to set people free from bondage. (Heb 4:12, John 8:32)

DIVINE HEALER

We believe that the Holy Spirit can and does heal people today and that there is a place for people to be made well by medical doctors too. Divine healing is not the same as spiritual healing which Spiritualists or others practice by calling on spirits, faith healers or other sources. (Ex 15:26, Mt 4:23, Mark 1:34)

THE BAPTISER

We believe that if we ask Jesus to fill (baptise) us with the power of His Holy Spirit (John 1:33) He will do so but this is received by faith. The ability to speak in tongue, (a Divinely inspired language) is one manifestation that shows we have been baptised with the Holy Spirit (Acts 1: 1-5, Acts 2:38, Acts 19:4-6).

Believers are called to be baptised (be immersed) in water as Jesus Christ Himself was (Mt 3:16, Acts 32:38, Acts 2:41, Acts 22:16) Being baptised is a symbol to represent that we have been cleansed from our sins, we have become a new person in Christ and we publicly declare that we choose to follow Jesus Christ (Gal 3:27, 2 Cor 5:17)

THE CHURCH We believe that when we are born-again (give our lives to Christ), we are baptized into the Body of Christ (the church) by the Holy Spirit Who draws men and women to Christ Jesus.(1 Cor 12:12-13)

FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT, THE GIFTS, THE MINISTRY

Once we have given our lives to Christ, we should all show the fruit of the Spirit described in Galations 5:22- 25. We believe the Holy Spirit gives Gifts to us to build and to encourage His people and to bring the reality, the love and power of Jesus Christ to people who do not know Him (1 Cor 12:7-11, James 5:14, John 14:12).

We believe the Holy Spirit appoints a person to serve His church (which represents His Body) in ministries, according to His Divine will and plan. God equips us with His gifts for the purpose of building His people up to become mature Christians who will be more Christ-like in their thinking, attitude and behaviour. (1 Cor 12:28, Eph 4:11)

THE COMING KING

We believe Jesus Christ will return to earth for His people – before the reign of terror begins and then He will reign on earth for one thousand years (pre-millenial). (Rev 20:4)

THE FUTURE STATE The Bible states there is a heaven and a hell. (Matt 13:47-50, Rev 14:14-20, 2 Cor 5:10)
